Miscellanea

  • Configure-to-order or build-to-order iMacs are customized Apple desktops. If you aren’t pleased with models available from the box, you can order one from Apple, specifying the hardware to meet your needs.
  • Configure-to-order iMacs don’t have Apple Order number as such.
  • Apple uses just-in-time manufacturing. The most popular configurations are pre-built and it takes just a few more touches to customize them. In this model Apple changed two third-party manufactures. First the new TFT matrix belonged to LG Philips – LG Phillips, LM240WU2-SLA1. Second, Apple switched the “red” team for the “green” one, that is, dropped Radeon for nVidia Geforce.
  • Rumors had it, Radeon got problems with heating and drivers. In years to come Apple changed the video cards in its laptops as well.
