The device must be connected to a Wi-Fi network, a cellular network, or both. Bluetooth must also be enabled. Generally, the pairing and setup process can take up to ten minutes. During this time, the iPhone must have a moderate amount of battery power and be connected to its charger.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To pair an Apple Watch with your iPhone, press and hold the side button on the watch until the Apple logo appears on the display. The Apple Watch powers on and the details appear on the screen. As soon as you tap the screen, the\u00a0Start Pairing\u00a0screen appears.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">On the iPhone, press\u00a0<em>Home<\/em>\u00a0and tap the <em>Apple Watch icon<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">The <em>Apple Watch app<\/em> opens and the<em>\u00a0Start Pairing<\/em>\u00a0screen appears.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Start pairing\u00a0on both the iPhone and on the Apple Watch<\/em>.\u00a0(If the Apple Watch icon does not appear, check your iOS:\u00a0Tap <em>Settings<\/em>, tap\u00a0<em>General<\/em>, then tap\u00a0<em>Software<\/em> <em>update<\/em>\u00a0to check for the latest version.)\u00a0The Apple Watch displays a changing pattern, and the Apple Watch app will then prompt you to hold the Apple Watch up to the camera. Hold it up to the camera, aligning the screen with the yellow viewfinder line.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must sign in using your Apple ID, the online identifier that Apple uses for its services, such as\u00a0iCloud\u00a0and the\u00a0App store. Obviously, you must provide the correct username and password. Next, tap\u00a0<em>Enter Password<\/em>\u00a0and type the password.<\/li>\n<li>Tap<em>\u00a0Next<\/em>. The Apple Watch will then verify your Apple ID. The\u00a0<em>Two-Step Verification\u00a0<\/em>screen appears, however, if you have not enabled the two-step verification for your Apple ID, this screen will not appear, thus just tap\u00a0OK.<\/li>\n<li>If the two-step verification has been enabled, tap the device you will use for verification in the\u00a0<em>Verify With<\/em>\u00a0list.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<em>Send<\/em>\u00a0to see the\u00a0<em>Sending\u00a0<\/em>screen and the\u00a0<em>Verification Code<\/em>\u00a0dialog on the device you chose, showing a four-digit number for verifying your account. On the iPhone, the\u00a0<em>Enter Code<\/em>\u00a0screen appears. Next, type the verification code. You\u2019ll see the\u00a0<em>Location Services<\/em>\u00a0screen, explaining what <em>Location Services<\/em> performs, whether it is enabled on the iPhone, and how you can enable or disable it. Tap\u00a0<em>OK<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>When you tap<em>\u00a0OK<\/em>, the\u00a0<em>Siri\u00a0<\/em>screen appears. You can then read about what<em>\u00a0Siri\u00a0<\/em>does, whether it is enabled on the iPhone, and how you can enable or disable<em>\u00a0Siri<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<em>OK<\/em>. The\u00a0<em>Diagnostic<\/em>\u00a0screen appears, explaining the purpose of sending diagnostics and usage data to Apple, whether sending the data is enabled on the iPhone, and how you can enable or disable it.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<em>Automatically Send<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>Don\u2019t Send<\/em>, as needed. If you tap\u00a0<em>Automatically Send\u00a0<\/em>on the\u00a0<em>Diagnostic<\/em>\u00a0screen, the\u00a0<em>Share Diagnostics &amp; Usage?<\/em>\u00a0dialog box may open, warning you that sharing diagnostics and usage data for the Apple Watch also means sharing data for the paired iPhone. Tap\u00a0<em>OK<\/em>\u00a0to proceed.<\/li>\n<li>The <em>Apple Watch\u00a0Passcode<\/em>\u00a0screen will appear. Now, tap\u00a0<em>Create a Passcode<\/em>. You can tap\u00a0<em>Add a Long Passcode<\/em> to create a longer passcode, or you can tap\u00a0<em>Don\u2019t Add Passcode<\/em>. In this case, you\u2019ll set up your Apple Watch without a passcode. It is not recommended to set up your Apple Watch without a passcode unless you are setting up the Apple Watch for demonstration purposes, and the device contains no sensitive data whatsoever.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<em>Enter New Passcode\u00a0<\/em>screen appears, and you can now type the passcode you want to create, and re-enter the\u00a0<em>New Passcode<\/em>\u00a0when the device demands it.<\/li>\n<li>Retype the password to confirm your action. On the iPhone, the\u00a0<em>Unlock Apple Watch<\/em>\u00a0with iPhone screen will appear. The Apple Watch will prompt you to choose whether to unlock the Apple Watch with your iPhone. Tap\u00a0<em>Yes<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>No<\/em>, as you prefer.<\/li>\n<li>On the iPhone, the\u00a0<em>Install Available Apps\u00a0<\/em>screen will appear. Tap<em>\u00a0Install All\u00a0<\/em>to install all the apps now, or tap\u00a0<em>Choose Later\u00a0<\/em>to choose apps individually later.<br \/>\nWhen\u00a0the <em>Apple Watch Is Syncing\u00a0<\/em>screen appears, it means the device is syncing with the iPhone.
