Otherwise, go to Tap Audio Messages (see below) for audio messages. The <em>Alerts controls<\/em> appear.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Set the <em>Show Alerts<\/em> switch to <em>On<\/em> to see alerts for messages.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Set the <em>Sound switch<\/em> to <em>On<\/em> to receive sound notifications.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Set the <em>Haptic<\/em> switch to <em>On<\/em> to receive notifications via vibration.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Repeat<\/em> alerts to display the<em> Repeat alerts<\/em> screen.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Now tap the number of <em>Repeat alerts<\/em> you want to receive: <em>Never, Once, Twice, 3 Times, 5 Times, 10 Times<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Messages<\/em>, and the <em>Messages<\/em> screen will appear again.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Set the <em>Send Read Receipts<\/em> switch to <em>On<\/em> if you want messages to send receipts to senders when you read the messages coming from them.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Audio Messages<\/em> to display the <em>Audio Messages<\/em> screen.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Dictation<\/em> or <em>Audio<\/em> if you want to be able to choose whether to send transcribed text or a recorded audio file. Tap <em>Always Dictation<\/em> to always send transcribed text. Or tap <em>Always Audio<\/em> to always send recorded audio.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Messages<\/em> to display the <em>Messages<\/em> screen.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Tap <em>Default Replies<\/em> to display the <em>Default Replies<\/em> screen.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Now tap the preset reply you want to change. Then type the text you want to use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Note that if you send a read receipt, is up to you. Sending it lets the sender of a message be sure that you have read it. This is helpful, especially if the read message makes it unnecessary for the sender to follow up with a phone call or an e-mail message asking whether you received the message. But if sending read receipts might reveal too much information about your actions, you may prefer not to send them.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"A_Few_Simple_Tips\">A Few Simple Tips<\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">To create a new preset reply open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the <em>My Watch<\/em> tab. Now go to <em>Messages &gt; Default Replies<\/em>. Once there, tap a default reply to change it. To remove a default reply or change the order, tap<em> Edit<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">To delete a conversation, swipe left on the conversation, and then tap <em>Trash<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Asking Siri for help while sending a new message: You can ask Siri to create a message for you. For example, say \u201cHey Siri, tell my wife I&#8217;ll home in ten minutes.\u201d Next, lower your wrist to send.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">If you want to send a handwritten message or sticker, tap <em>emoji<\/em> icon, swipe right to your recent handwritten messages and stickers, then tap one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span id=\"Troubleshooting_and_Getting_Help\">Troubleshooting and Getting Help<\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em><strong> When You can&#8217;t Send or Receive a Message on Apple Watch<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Important note: After each step performed, try to send or receive a message using your Apple Watch, and proceed to perform the next step only if the function still won&#8217;t work:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">See if you can send and receive messages on your iPhone. For this go to your iPhone and check if it can receive and send messages without using Apple Watch.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Look at the watch face. If you see <em>Moon<\/em> icon on your Apple Watch, turn off <em>Do Not Disturb<\/em>\u00a0mode.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Make sure that your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone. To check the connection, open <em>Control Center<\/em> on your Apple Watch. Then tap <em>ping phone<\/em> icon. If the devices are connected, your iPhone will make a &#8220;ping&#8221; sound.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Check the phone number of your friend or check the Apple ID to make sure that it&#8217;s correct.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Sign out of iMessage on your iPhone.
