iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, 7s Plus and Apple Watch 3: September 12 is Coming
The iPhone 8 is a sure-fire favorite of 2017. The anniversary Apple smartphone has to pitch against the handhelds of other premium brands that have already introduced their flagships. This leaves no place for compromise.
The iPhone 8 is going to have a full glass body with an edge-to-edge display. The display is a flexible plastic OLED with a higher contrast ratio and more true to life colors. With such a feature the display will be much thinner and less energy consuming.
The only metal components are the polished stainless steel sides just like in the Apple Watch. This means there will be no more top and bottom bezels, like the ones that used to house the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and the front-facing camera in previous models.
The top bezel is replaced by a little notch for an earpiece and a front camera. Authorization is done by a facial recognition ID with infrared sensors hidden behind the touch screen. The precise engineering by Apple makes sure the system is robust and stable. The biometric software called ‘Pearl’ has been tested in the HomePod that is expected to arrive later this year. This system evaluates if the face is too close or too far from the camera, and if there is more than one face in the frame.
Natural lighting is not very helpful for the facial recognition system, that’s why Apple employs the infrared sensors for a better result. These sensors make it possible to gesture control the smartphone. Now, the gesture language is used in smartphones by other brands for making selfies, but Apple is sure to develop a much more complicated gesture interface.
Other improvements of the iPhone 8 body include IP68 water protection. Your new Apple smartphone can survive rain, splashes, and brief submersion in water. Water resistance of this level demands no open sockets whatsoever, that’s why iPhone 8 gets the wireless charging. The wireless charging is of the inductive type, so you have to place your smartphone on a charging mat.
The iPhone 8 renders show, that the body is similar in size to the 4.7-inch iPhone, but the display is the size of the 5.5-inch iPhone. With the Home button gone we get additional virtual space in the bottom, so the display is likely to be a 5.8-inch one.
As for the rear camera, the top model gets image stabilization and the dual lenses coupled with better AR functionality. The camera itself is placed vertically, which is unusual for the Apple iPhones so far. The front camera is capable of 3D sensing and can evaluate the depth of the picture. It is part of the facial recognition system and these are some of its key features.
The price is going to soar around $1000. It’s not too high for the sum of technologies the iPhone 8 is going to feature. The smartphone will be powered by the A11 chip and will get the maximum internal storage possible. There will be three colors available: black, gold and silver.
The iPhone 8 will be backed up by iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. It’s not the first time Apple adds ‘s’ to the previous model in the line, putting in some improvements as well.
The iPhone 7s is going to have an OLED display, a True Tone technology that is much more sensitive to the ambient light and will have a slightly curved design. The iPhone 7s Plus will also feature a fingerprint sensor on a curved glass back. They are expected to come in 5.5-inch and 5.8 inch sizes. The hardware remains the same as in the iPhone 7, but buying the ‘s’ edition is a good move for those who don’t want to shell out one thousand dollars for a handheld.
The iPhone 8 is likely to be paired with the Apple Watch 3. The timepiece by Apple is going to have a platinum or liquidmetal case. Liquidmetal is the metal alloy developed in Caltech. Its hallmark is the corrosion resistance, and is the key feature for wearables that are meant to get in contact with the human skin.
The micro-LED panels will be used for the face because they are much brighter than the OLED ones, but the resolution remains the same: 390 x 312 pixels.
The most outstanding feature is going to be the smartband. Apple patented the smartband that will be capable to work as an additional monochrome display.
All these features are backed up by the Watch OS 4 with a built-in Siri! Now the Apple Watch will be able to give you access to your calendar, messengers and alerts. It also syncs your music and supports direct downloads of your playlists from Apple Music to the watch.
As for the fitness options, Apple Watch OS 4 supports multiple workouts and you can navigate between them with a side swipe. But the most important feature is the Bluetooth connection with other portables and devices, including the health monitors. For instance, the Apple Watch can be paired with the glucose monitor.
The smart wearable by Apple will also allow you to make personal payments via Apple Pay. Now you see, that it’s the perfect partner for the iPhone 8, 7s and 7s Plus.
