Google Drive Tips:<\/em> Google Drive is a cloud-based storage service that ties numerous Google services together. Here are ten ways to help you get the most from Google Drive\u2019s features.<\/p>\n

  1. Go offline:<\/em> With a quick setup, you can view and edit your documents even when you are not connected to the internet. You need to be using Google Chrome<\/em> browser to do this. First, open Chrome<\/em>, and install the official Drive<\/em> app. Next, go to drive.google.com, find the left-hand menu, and click More<\/em>. Then, select Offline<\/em>. Finally, click the button to enable offline access for your computer. If you use a Chromebook<\/em>, offline access is automatically activated by default.<\/li>\n
  2. Enable full Drive-to-PC syncing:<\/em> Adding Drive<\/em> to your hard drive will allow you to access any files you\u2019ve stored in Google Drive<\/em> on your device. You will be able to easily drag and drop files between Drive<\/em> and your computer. Install the Google Drive<\/em> sync program for your Windows or Mac system.\u00a0\u00a0You will then be able to select a local folder which serves as a two-way sync spot between Drive<\/em> and your PC.<\/li>\n
  3. Use Syncdocs:<\/em> Files created in Google Docs<\/em> can\u2019t be opened with a word processor like Microsoft Word<\/em> or Open Office<\/em>. Syncdocs creates a two-way sync between your Drive<\/em> account and a local folder. It converts Docs<\/em> files into Word<\/em> or Open Office<\/em> format. Syncdocs<\/em> can convert Word<\/em> files into Docs format when uploading. It\u2019s free in a limited version.<\/li>\n
  4. Drag and drop files:<\/em> You can drag a file directly from your computer onto the Drive<\/em> website. Drive will put it into your storage, and no further steps are required.<\/li>\n
  5. Insert images easily:<\/em> When editing a Google Docs<\/em> document, you can drag the image from your computer into the Google Docs<\/em> document. You will then be able to move or resize it.<\/li>\n
  6. Add a link easily:<\/em> To add a link into a document press Ctrl-K<\/em>, or use the toolbar at the top of the screen, and type text into the box that appears. Google<\/em> will automatically start searching the Web<\/em> as you type. It gives you a drop-down list of URLs from which you can select a link.<\/li>\n
  7. Keep track of changes:<\/em> To look at a list of edits made to any document and revert back to an older version, open Docs\u2019 Revision History<\/em> feature by going to the File<\/em> menu, or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Shift-G<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  8. Take some shortcuts:<\/em> Hold Ctrl<\/em> and press the forward-slash key to find a complete list of keyboard shortcuts on Google Drive<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  9. Full screen:<\/em> Full screen command is located under Docs\u2019 View<\/em> menu. You will see only your actual document body. To return to a regular view, just use the Esc<\/em> key.<\/li>\n
  10. Coloring your folders:<\/em>\u00a0 You can color-code Google Drive<\/em> folders. Just right-click on any folder in your Drive<\/em> and select the Change color<\/em> command. Changing colors will help you organize your work.<\/li>\n
