According to him, such exports would have \u201cserious national security implications\u201d when it comes to AI models that \u201cessentially represent cognition \u2014 that are essentially intelligence.\u201d He went on to say bluntly:<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it absurd. It\u2019s a bit like selling nuclear weapons to North Korea and boasting that Boeing made the casings.\u201d<\/p>\n

This remark is particularly striking since Anthropic depends on Nvidia\u2019s GPUs to run its AI systems. Moreover, as TechCrunch rightly pointed out, the tech giant recently announced a $10 billion investment in Anthropic.<\/p>\n

Regardless, Dario Amodei didn\u2019t hold back \u2014 and he likely spoke from the heart. It\u2019s entirely possible that the CEO fears Chinese rivals gaining access to these chips could soon outpace their American counterparts.
