{"id":2939,"date":"2016-05-01T15:23:06","date_gmt":"2016-05-01T15:23:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/igotoffer.com\/blog\/?p=2939"},"modified":"2017-12-06T19:38:00","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T19:38:00","slug":"sell-ipod-online-erase-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/igotoffer.com\/blog\/sell-ipod-online-erase-first","title":{"rendered":"Erase iPod Before You Sell It"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Erase iPod: Getting Ready to Sell iPod Online<\/h2>\n<p>To Erase iPod:\u00a0Are you getting ready to sell your old Apple iPod, and you\u2019d like to delete all files you have on it?<\/p>\n<p>In just a few minutes, you can easily erase all your data and have it ready to go to its new owner.<\/p>\n<p><em>Warning:<\/em> Back up your old iPod! Before you erase or sell your old iPod, ensure that you have an iCloud or iTunes backup and that it is up to date, just in case you wish to recover the data in the future.\u00a0 After you buy a new device, you can install a backup of that device\u2019s settings and content. If you restore the settings from a backup, choose whether you want to use an iTunes backup, or an iCloud backup. At this point, you will need to set up a new Apple ID, or sign in with your existing account.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve never synced your iPod with iTunes, put your iPod in recovery mode. Then, you will be able to restore the iPod as new (or from a backup if you have one.) This will destroy all the sensitive data on your gadget.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, to erase the iPod and its passcode, do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Disconnect all cables from the iPod you are getting ready to be sold.<\/li>\n<li>Press the <em>Sleep\/Wake<\/em> button and hold it down.<\/li>\n<li>Slide to power off and to turn off the gadget.<\/li>\n<li>Press and hold the\u00a0<em>Home\u00a0<\/em>button.<\/li>\n<li>Plug the iPod into your computer.<\/li>\n<li>Continue holding the\u00a0Home\u00a0button until you see the\u00a0<em>Connect\u00a0to iTunes<\/em> screen.<\/li>\n<li>If iTunes doesn\u2019t open automatically, open it. iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode.<\/li>\n<li>Click OK and restore the iPod to its original values.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You might need to enter your passcode and Apple ID password before you erase all content and settings. If you don\u2019t remember your passcode or your device is disabled, here is what you should do:<\/p>\n<p><em>Important note:\u00a0<\/em>If you enter the wrong passcode six times in a row, you\u2019ll be locked out. A message will say that your iPod is disabled.<\/p>\n<p>When you erase your iPod, unless you made a backup before you forgot your passcode, there isn\u2019t a way to save your device\u2019s data. Erasing your device will delete all of your data and settings. Choose a way to erase:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you\u2019ve synced with iTunes, erase with iTunes. If you\u2019ve synced your iPod with iTunes, you can restore the device:<\/li>\n<li>Connect your device to the computer you synced with.<\/li>\n<li>Open iTunes. If prompted to enter a passcode, try another computer you\u2019ve synced with, or use recovery mode.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for iTunes to sync your device and then make a backup.<\/li>\n<li>Once the sync and backup have finished, click\u00a0Restore\u00a0(select your iPod).<\/li>\n<li>When you reach the\u00a0<em>Set Up\u00a0<\/em>screen while restoring, tap\u00a0<em>Restore\u00a0<\/em>from iTunes backup.<\/li>\n<li>Select once again your device in iTunes. Look at the date and size of each backup and pick the most relevant one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can use iCloud to erase and restore the iPod (but keep in mind, if you are not connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network, you can\u2019t erase it).<\/p>\n<p>From another device, go to icloud.com\/fin. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click\u00a0All Devices\u00a0at the top of your window.<\/li>\n<li>Select the device you want to erase.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Erase<\/em>\u00a0(select iPod).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Now, you can either restore the device from a backup, or set up as new.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve never synced with iTunes or set up Find My iPhone in iCloud, you\u2019ll need to use recovery mode to restore the iPod, but you\u2019ll erase the device and its passcode in this case:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.<\/li>\n<li>Force restart your iPod (on iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep\/Wake and Home buttons at the same time.)<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding both buttons until you see the recovery mode screen.<\/li>\n<li>As soon as you see the option to\u00a0<em>Restore<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>Update<\/em>, choose\u00a0<em>Restore<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>iTunes will download new software.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you can set up and use your device.<\/p>\n<h3>WHERE CAN YOU BUY AN OLD IPOD<\/h3>\n<p>Only the most recent generation of iPod models and refurbished units of previous generations of the iPod line are available directly from Apple.
