Photo Book Designed by Apple in California<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

On November 15, 2016, Apple released a new hardbound photo book chronicling 20 years of Apple\u2019s design. No less than 450 photographs of past and current Apple products, from 1998\u2019s iMac, to 2015\u2019s Apple Pencil, as well as materials and techniques used by Apple\u2019s design team, illustrate two decades of innovation.<\/p>\n

The book is dedicated to the memory of Steve Jobs. Jony Ive, Apple\u2019s chief design officer said at the presentation of this book, that \u201cthe idea of genuinely trying to make something great for humanity was Steve\u2019s motivation from the beginning, and it remains both our ideal and our goal as Apple looks to the future\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

So, according to Mr. Ive, \u201c\u2026this archive is intended to be a\u00a0gentle gathering of many of the products the team has designed over the years. We hope it brings some understanding to how and why they exist, while serving as a resource for students of all design disciplines.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many co-authors cooperate to create the album, including Andrew Zuckerman, the photographer, who shot over 450 images in a deliberately spare style.<\/p>\n

In fact, this book is not about the design team, the creative process, or product development. Instead, the book represents and describes how Apple\u2019s design team works, what its values and goals are, why the designers achieve the results in creating objects that appear so simple and coherent, that there could be no rational alternative.<\/p>\n

This linen-bound, hardcover volume,\u00a0is available in two sizes and printed on specially milled, custom-dyed paper with gilded matte silver edges. The printing is in eight color separations and low-ghost ink.<\/p>\n

The photo book \u201cDesigned by Apple in California\u201d was developed over an eight-year\u00a0period and was published by Apple.<\/p>\n

\u201cDesigned by Apple in California\u201d is available in small (10.20\u201d x 12.75\u201d) at $199 (US) and large (13\u201d x 16.25\u201d) at $299 (US) exclusively from\u00a0Apple.com\u00a0in Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea,\u00a0Taiwan, the UK and the US. It\u2019s also sold in select Apple Stores. The book is on display in the Apple Stores in which it is sold at.<\/p>\n
