Once the Cover is connected to the computer, it stays put. When you want to remove it, just pull the Cover away.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>To Fold the Cover Back:<\/em> Fold the Cover back to use your Microsoft Surface as a tablet. Keep in mind that while the Touch Cover is folded back, it won\u2019t detect key presses. To type text while the Cover is folded back, tap in a text field or area where you can type. The touch keyboard will appear on the screen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>To Close the Touch Cover:<\/em> Touch Cover protects the screen while the user is on the go. When the user closes a Touch Cover over a Surface Pro or Surface Pro 2, the screen turns off. When the user opens the Cover, he or she should press the power button on the Surface tablet to wake the device.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Note that opening the Touch Cover will not wake Surface Pro 3 or Surface 3 from sleep. Besides closing the Touch Cover will not turn off the screen or put Surface to sleep. Instead, the user should press the power button on Surface Pro 3 or Surface 3 when he or she closes the Touch Cover to save power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><em>Using Touchpad:<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>All Surface Touch Covers have a standard keyboard, shortcut keys for common tasks, and a touchpad, which has right-click and left-click buttons, and supports gestures.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Using the keyboard and\u00a0special keys:<\/em> Surface Covers have shortcut keys for opening Windows charms, playing audio or video, and perform other actions. Keys on the top row double as function keys &#8211; hold down the <em>Fn<\/em> key while you press the key. Note that if you use function keys a lot, you can lock these keys in function mode. The <em>Fn<\/em> key also works in combination with other keys to do certain things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Lock keys into function mode:<\/em> Using an app that uses function keys a lot, it is possible to temporarily lock the top row of keys so the function keys stick. Here\u2019s how to do this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Hold down the <em>Fn<\/em> key and press the <em>Caps<\/em> key.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Pressing the key by itself gives you the function key (F3 instead of mute key, for example). On the other hand, <em>Fn<\/em> plus the key gives you the special key. For example, to mute the speaker, you can press <em>Fn\u00a0<\/em>+ mute key.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">To turn off the function key lock, press <em>Fn + Caps<\/em> again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Use a mouse or disable the touchpad:<\/em> If you prefer using a mouse to using the touchpad on your <em>Type Cover<\/em>, you can connect a USB or Bluetooth mouse.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Turn typing sounds on or off:<\/em> Touch Cover and the touch keyboard can make a sound when you press the keys. Here\u2019s how to turn the sound on or off:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Go to Start Windows logo, and select <em>Settings &gt; Devices &gt; Typing<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Under Touch keyboard, set <em>Play<\/em> key sounds as I type to <em>On<\/em> or <em>Off<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">To adjust the volume, use the volume button on the left side of your Surface.
