Apple VS Google: The Clash Of The Titans

Apple VS Google: According to the business news giant, Bloomberg, Google paid Apple one billion dollars to keep the search engine as the default search option on iOS devices. However, the court documents on which the claim is based, have vanished from the Web and the claim remains to be corroborated. Another possibility is that Google pays up to 34% of its revenue to Apple. Indeed, it’s a very lucrative business to be the default search engine on a device. Most people today already count on Google for most of their information needs, so why would Google need to pay anybody? Google is great at product placement, such as the one seen in Smurfs (in reference to a magical device – the name “Google” was uttered by the Smurfs in a very cute fashion) and may be one of the ways the popular search engine is able to stay ahead of the competition.

Furthermore, Google makes money through its advertisements. In fact, the search engine tailors each ad according to user preferences, allowing them to show the most relevant ad content to each individual. Clicking on those ads generates revenue for Google and partners. Nonetheless, Google has removed and disabled countless ads, sites and accounts for “bad” ads, such as ads for counterfeit products, unapproved drugs or malware. Of course, despite removing all the bad ads (and Google communicated through a blog post that it has more than a thousand people working at weeding out the unwanted ads) Google still has a lot of advertisements on the Web, which amount to significant profits. Who would have thought that online advertisement would have been one of the most profitable endeavors in 2010? By the same token, Facebook similarly generates revenue through the advertisements that it places on its platform. Years ago, before the advent of the Internet, such business undertakings were unheard of, which once again shows the importance of innovation in the business world.
