FaceTime Windows: How To Use FaceTime With Windows PC

Can you use Apple’s FaceTime app on your iPhone or any iOS device?

In February 2011, Apple launched a FaceTime app for Mac users. This app allows you to make video calls between any iOS device and Mac. Many people think that Apple’s FaceTime video calling is one of its flashiest features, but can PC owners use it running Windows?

There has been no official FaceTime app for Windows released by Apple. For the time being, there’s no way for someone using Windows to make a FaceTime call to someone using an iOS device.

However there are programs that offer similar features to FaceTime and they work across many different operating systems.

Skype is one of the most widely known and used programs. It works on Mac OS X, iOS, Windows, Android, Linux, and other platforms. Skype is free using its basic features, but additional features can be purchased at a small cost.

iMovicha is a free program for iOS, Windows Phone, Android, Mac OS X, and Windows. It works over 3G and 4G cellular data networks, not just Wi-Fi.

Yahoo Messenger is another chat program with video features. This program offers video chats to Windows and Mac OS X users.

Tango Video Calls is an app available for Windows Phone, iOS, and Android. It allows you to chat and make video calls seamlessly between these devices.

WeChat is another app that works very well across Windows, iOS, and Android.

Apple has stated that it intends to make FaceTime an open standard. Meaning anyone would be able to create software that is compatible with FaceTime. Third-party developers would be able to create FaceTime compatible programs, including those that run on Windows or other platforms, like Android.
