What To Expect From Apple Event, October 27, 2016

What To Expect From Apple Event, October 27, 2016

The invitation to the event to be held on the 27th of October, looks intriguing and even cryptic. A colored apple and the ‘Hello again!’ line beneath.

This event will most likely be reintroducing the long-awaited MacBook Pro! It’s a high time, with Kaby Lake having entered the market! As we all remember, the MacBook line-up hadn’t been updated since mid-2015, when they increased the speed, increased the battery life, and added a “Force Touch” trackpad. It will be a shame; however, if they neglect to say anything about the MacPro desktop. Owners of the desktop might feel like the whole world simply left them behind.

But; with society’s demands for mobility and portability, Apple laptops are most likely the items to be upgraded first. We can’t help but wonder, what sweet new additions will we get?

Since the Apple trademark is to make it thinner and thinner and thinner, we can guess that a slimmer body will be something they announce. Apple is also catching up with the biometrical ID trend for laptop and desktop systems, so a fingerprint reading TouchID sensor, (like the one on iPhone) can be expected as well. Since Two-factor authorization whether via iPhone or via Apple Watch is much less reliable nowadays, the touch ID will be a nice improvement. It will need to beat out the Windows Hello ID system, the program that Apple’s long-life competitor, Microsoft, is launching.

The SSD storage can be boosted up to 2 TB, but as to the price for 2 TB SSD powered laptops, these figures could be unimaginable. Be ready for sticker shock, everyone.

Apple goes touchy even more, as the touch-sensitive OLED strip called ‘touch bar’ is rumored to replace the function keys in the top of the keyboard. This feature is supposed to be christened the MagicTool. It will be able to change functions depending on the app running. It’s a wild guess really, but I do think the strip will have to have some Taptic engine for that one, because otherwise it may be hard to use when blind-typing, but I personally would love to have this feature introduced.

Of course, some of the old and outdated technology will be dropped, like ports, or models, or software features. If Apple drops something like a hot potato, be assured: this feature has outlived its time!

USB-A will be replaced with magnetic MagSafe USB – Type C. There are supposed to be four of them, along with a headphone jack. That can be kind of a shock to users, since Apple laptops have always been packed with various sockets and ports.

The 11-inch MacBooks are rumored to be dropped from the line-up as well. The upgraded Macbook Pro, will now have 13-inch as well as 15-inch displays available instead.

If you have an 11 inch Macbook and can’t wait to upgrade, remember that you can trade in your old laptop to iGotOffer! We promise to find good caring hands for them.

So, in a nutshell, we’re going to meet another compact, precise piece of equipment with hi-end technologies added to it. I’m looking forward to it. Are you?
