Apple Plans to Sell New Mac Pro

New Mac Pro: Apple introduces the new Mac Pro at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013. The prior generation of Mac Pro has been selling for over four years without any significant changes.

The new Mac Pro will have four USB 3 and 6 thunderbolt ports as well as a full sized HDMI connector.

It  is finally time to start thinking about selling your old Mac Pro!

The Mac Pro line is a series of Intel Xeon-based workstation and server computers. It’s the most powerful computer developed by Apple.

The second-generation design of Mac Pro was announced at the 2013 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). The new Mac Pro achieves twice the overall performance of the last model. The redesigned Mac Pro takes up less than one eighth the volume of the immediately previous model. It’s shorter (9.9 inches), thinner (6.9 inches) and weighs less (11 pounds).

The new Mac Pro supports one central processing unit (CPU) (up to a 12-core Xeon E5 CPU), four 1866 MHz DDR3 slots, dual AMD FirePro D series GPUs (up to D700 with 6 GB VRAM each). It has a PCIe-based flash storage. The new Mac Pro is equipped with wireless communication and supports six displays. Reviews have been generally positive.

Let’s remind you that Apple received criticism after an upgrade to the Mac Pro line in 2012. This line received more default memory, but it still used Intel’s older Westmere-EP processors instead of the newer E5 series. The line also lacked then-current technologies like SATA III, USB 3, and Thunderbolt.

The first generation Mac Pro was removed from Apple’s online store following unveiling of the redesigned second generation Mac Pro on October 22, 2013.

The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference is a conference held by the company annually. The conference is used by Apple to showcase its new software and technologies for software developers. Attendees can participate in hands-on labs with Apple engineers, and in-depth sessions covering a wide variety of topics. The very first WWDC began in 1983 in Monterey, California. Until 2007, the number of attendees varied between 2,000 and 4,200. During the conference of 2007, Steve Jobs noted that there were more than 5,000 attendees present.

The Worldwide Developers Conference 2013 was held from June 10 to 14, 2013 in Moscone Center West. Tickets went on sale at 10am PDT on April 25, 2013. They were sold out within 71 seconds. Apple also announced that it would award 150 free WWDC 2013 Student Scholarship tickets for young attendees to benefit from the conference’s many workshops. In the keynote presented at the event, Apple unveiled redesigned models of the Mac Pro, AirPort Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, MacBook Air, and showcased OS X Mavericks, iOS 7, iWork for iCloud, and a new music streaming service named iTunes Radio. Vampire Weekend performed at the Bash on June 13 at the Yerba Buena Gardens. All the attendees received a black windbreaker with the letters WWDC across the front and the number 13 stitched on the back.
