When the battery reaches its maximum capacity, small charge-discharge cycles occur, generating heat. This increase in temperature can deteriorate the battery’s internal components over time.
Some manufacturers already include software that manages charging to minimize these effects, but not all devices have this technology.
Another mistake is using non-original or low-quality chargers and cables. These devices are often not designed with the proper specifications for the phone, which can lead to inconsistent or even harmful charging.
Additionally, an inadequate charger might not have the necessary safety systems to protect your phone from overcharges or power surges.
Always using the manufacturer’s original accessories or products from recognized brands that meet your phone’s specifications is essential for ensuring safe charging and prolonging battery life.
Some people think it’s good to let the phone’s battery completely discharge before recharging it. However, lithium-ion batteries, which are the most common in today’s smartphones, don’t perform best with this method.
These batteries operate optimally when kept between 20% and 80% of their capacity. Regularly letting the battery fully discharge can lead to greater degradation and reduce its capacity over time. Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid letting the battery drop below 20% before connecting it to the charger.
Phone batteries are very sensitive to extreme temperatures. Charging the phone in a very hot place, like inside a car in the summer, or in an extremely cold environment, can negatively affect the battery’s capacity and efficiency.
Both temperature extremes can cause irreversible damage and significantly reduce the lifespan of the internal components. Therefore, it’s recommended to charge the phone in environments with moderate temperatures and keep it away from heat or cold sources during the charging process.
Using power-saving modes when the phone is not in use, avoiding intensive applications while the phone is charging, and keeping the device’s software updated are measures that can contribute to better charge management and battery conservation.
Modern smartphones are designed with advanced protection systems, but adopting conscious charging habits is crucial to ensuring the battery remains in good condition for as long as possible.
This not only improves the daily user experience but also contributes to sustainability by reducing the need to replace devices frequently.
