Here Are the New Apple Wallet Features in iOS 27
The new Apple Wallet features in iOS 27 include importing physical cards, such as loyalty or membership cards.
iOS 27, the latest update to Apple’s mobile operating system, introduces a set of new features for Apple Wallet, the company’s digital wallet application.
Among the most notable additions is the ability to split a restaurant bill from a photo of a receipt—a tool designed for those who often end up paying the total bill when dining out with friends.
The feature uses Apple Intelligence to convert items on a receipt into selectable elements, allowing the user to quickly identify what they need to pay for. The process is activated through the new Siri mode in the Camera app: pointing the lens at a receipt brings up a prompt offering the option “Split Bill with Apple Cash.”
From there, users can search their contacts for the people they want to share the expense with, though those recipients must have the ability to pay via Apple Cash.
Once the contacts are selected, Apple Wallet displays the list of items included in the receipt so the user can choose their own, decide how to split the total amount, and set the tip. The application does not have the ability to compel third parties to pay their share: it does not act as a collection agency.

Another central addition in iOS 27 is the ability to import physical cards into Apple Wallet—a long-standing user request, as described by 9to5Mac. Apple explained that on both iPhone and Apple Watch, it will be possible to create and store passes from physical cards, such as loyalty or membership cards, without needing to carry them physically.
The mechanism reuses Camera’s Siri mode: simply point the iPhone at a physical card with a barcode, or capture a digital card via a screenshot, to receive the option to save it in Apple Wallet. It is also possible to create a pass directly within the app without starting from an existing card.
To add a new item, the user taps the “plus” icon at the top of the app. Options appear there to scan a debit, credit, transit, or ID card, or to choose “Create a Pass” to work from a business card.
When editing the details of a custom pass, users can import and modify the content of a scanned card or enter the data manually. Apple Wallet offers various templates for these items and allows adjusting the color and background of each. The information can be edited at any time later if it changes or if an error was made when uploading it.

Once added, the passes are available to present as a barcode or QR code from the iPhone or Apple Watch. Furthermore, recent Apple Watch models will be able to pin these custom digital passes using the Smart Stack feature.
iOS 27 also adds a feature for Apple Card users: the ability to view recurring payments associated with the card. To access this list, the user must tap the card inside Wallet and select the corresponding option in the three-dot menu located in the top right corner.
During its annual developers conference, WWDC, held in June, Apple previewed these features along with others specifically aimed at third-party developers. These include the ability to generate event posters with multiple tickets and the integration of order tracking for retail applications via Apple Intelligence.
The company indicated that it will continue to add additional Wallet features as it rolls out future updates to iOS 27.
