Microsoft Lumia: the Power Of Everyday Mobile Technology to Everyone

Microsoft is launching its very first Lumia smartphone, with the tagline of “Microsoft is delivering the power of everyday mobile technology to everyone.” The technology giant’s new step marked the first time the company has dropped the Nokia name on its smartphones.

It seems Microsoft’s first Lumia is a low-end device targeted at the masses, but it’s not clear how Microsoft will name it. Some say it will continue the Lumia 5xx series. In fact, the company could opt to ditch the number scheme that Nokia has used in the past.

The new smartphone will include a 5-inch display (540 × 960 pixels) with 1GB RAM, a 5-megapixel primary camera, and 1.2GHz quad-core CPU Snapdragon processor. It has a forward-facing camera, something Nokia chose to cut from the recent low-end Lumia handsets.

The device will be powered by a 1,900 mAh battery and will be available in black, white, gray, blue, orange and green.

The first images give us a good idea of how it will look. They also confirm the dual SIM support of the handset, but it appears that 3G is only available on one of the slots, and no LTE. Either way, Microsoft Lumia is expected to be the first smartphone of its family to carry the Microsoft branding after the company officially got rid of the Nokia logos. We can see from the leaked images that the Microsoft name is clearly printed on the top of the phone. On the back, the company’s imprint is also visible.

The Lumia 5xx series has been, by far, the best selling Windows Phone over the past few years. The mobile world’s excitement, when rumors of a new device circulate, is easy to understand.

The first Microsoft branded Lumia model rumored to be unveiled on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.

Microsoft will supposedly offer seven color variations for the Lumia 535. The unveiling will take place on Tuesday, at which time we should know more information, such as pricing and availability.

SOME SURIOUS FACTS ABOUT LUMIA

Things You’d Like to Know About Lumia Before You Sell Your Old Phone Online

Did you know that from 1998 to 2011, Nokia was the largest vendor of mobile phones in the world? However, its market share soon declined. In April 2012, Samsung Electronics overtook Nokia as the largest mobile phone vendor.

In February 2011, a major business partnership between Nokia and Microsoft was announced. Nokia adopted the Windows Phone as its primary platform on future smartphones. The deal included the integration of Bing as the search engine on Nokia devices, and the integration of Nokia Maps into Microsoft’s own mapping services.

In October 2014, Microsoft announced that it would phase out the Nokia brand in its promotion. The Nokia Lumia 638 was the last Lumia to bear the Nokia brand and was only released in India in December 2014. Since then, Lumia models are branded solely with the name and logo of Microsoft. Rebranding the Lumia line from Nokia to Microsoft did not affect sales.
