Windows 11 Launched Moment 5 – Latest Significant Update

Windows 11 Has Just Launched Its Latest Significant Update, Moment 5, as Part of April’s Cumulative Update

Let’s dive into the top five features Moment 5 update, officially named patch KB5036893, and touch on some additional enhancements included.

Enhanced Accessibility Tools

Continuing its commitment to accessibility, Windows 11’s Moment 5 update introduces substantial improvements to Voice Access and Narrator. Voice Access now supports multiple displays, enabling actions like dragging and dropping files across screens using the mouse grid. Additionally, users can now create custom voice commands to perform specific actions, such as inserting predetermined text into a document. The Narrator has also been upgraded with several new natural-sounding voices, enriching the user experience.

AI-Enhanced Snap Layouts

Though not universally used, Snap Layouts provide a convenient way to organize multiple app windows on your desktop. With the introduction of AI-driven suggestions for premade layouts in Moment 5, managing desktop space has become more intuitive. If you haven’t used Snap Layouts before, this might be the perfect time to start.

AI Magic in the Photos App

The default Photos app in Windows 11 now includes an AI-powered ‘generative erase’ tool, which allows users to remove unwanted elements from images simply by highlighting them.

Improved Nearby Share

Nearby Share, which facilitates the wireless transfer of files and links to nearby devices, has been optimized for faster performance. The update ensures that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are activated automatically when Nearby Share is enabled, enhancing usability and transfer speeds on both public and private networks.

Expanded Copilot Features

For those who utilize Microsoft’s AI assistant, Copilot, new functionalities have been introduced, including third-party service plugins like OpenTable for making reservations directly through Copilot. The update also broadens Copilot’s command library related to Windows 11 settings, including new accessibility options and system adjustments.
