Four Siri Tricks to Get More Out of Your iPhone

Four Siri Tricks to Get More Out of Your iPhone

There are options to customize interaction, improve voice recognition, and adapt responses to your Siri preferences.

Adjusting Siri’s settings can transform how you use your iPhone, allowing the virtual assistant to respond more accurately and efficiently. There are options to personalize interaction, improve voice recognition, and tailor responses to your preferences.

Below are four tricks to boost Siri’s capabilities and make the most of all its features on your device.

Customize interaction with Siri: voice recognition and contact names

One essential step to optimize Siri’s performance is training it to recognize your voice more precisely. This is done through the settings option that lets you activate and retrain the “Hey Siri” feature. By completing this process while speaking naturally, the assistant learns to identify the nuances of your pronunciation, which reduces command-recognition errors.

Siri can also improve how it pronounces your contacts’ names, an important detail if you use uncommon names or ones with particular phonetics. From the Contacts app, when editing an entry and adding the pronunciation field, you can indicate how you want Siri to say each name.

In this way, the virtual assistant becomes more accurate both when searching for and announcing people in your list.

Set up voice responses and chat mode

Siri’s behavior when responding can be adjusted according to your preferences. Through the settings menu, you can choose whether the assistant should always reply out loud, only when the device is not in silent mode, or only after activating it with the “Hey Siri” command. These options let you adapt daily use of Siri to different contexts, whether private, public, or quiet environments.

In addition, on recent iPhone models with Apple Intelligence, there is the option to use Siri in a written chat format. This mode, accessible from the advanced settings, enables the “Type to Siri” feature.

Once activated, you can interact by typing your queries instead of dictating them, which is especially useful in situations where speaking is not possible or comfortable. Siri maintains the context of the conversation and replies with the same logic as in voice interactions.

Now then, one of the key improvements in the latest versions of Siri is its ability to understand the context of questions, both spoken and written. If you ask about the weather in one city and then ask about another location, Siri understands that the topic is still the weather, without needing you to repeat the initial information.

This continuity supports a smoother and more natural user experience, bringing Siri closer to the functionality of an intelligent personal assistant.

Apple teams up with Google to boost Siri’s artificial intelligence features

Apple has chosen to integrate Gemini, the artificial intelligence developed by Google, as the main engine of the next Siri update. This decision aims to push Apple’s voice assistant to a higher level of personalization and capability for the brand’s users.

Alphabet confirmed that the two companies signed a multiyear agreement that will allow Apple to leverage both the Gemini models and Google’s cloud infrastructure in developing future AI solutions.

The pact between Apple and Google comes after Apple itself announced in 2025 that it needed to postpone the AI-based version of Siri, whose launch was rescheduled for 2026 despite an intense initial promotional campaign.

The goal of this collaboration is to update Apple’s digital ecosystem by adopting advanced external technology, in a context where delays and competition in the tech sector have put pressure on the Cupertino company.

According to what CNBC published, Apple explained: “After careful evaluation, we determined that Google’s technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple’s core models, and we are excited about the new, innovative experiences it will enable for our users.” The financial details of the agreement were not disclosed by either party.

This alliance becomes even more significant in light of Bloomberg reports indicating that Apple and Google had been negotiating for months to incorporate a customized version of Gemini to enhance Siri’s features.
