According to a new rumor, the iPhone SE 4 would have a design similar to that of the iPhone 14, featuring a borderless screen and a notch for the front sensors.
Apple specializes in high-end smartphones. However, the company regularly releases more affordable models under the iPhone SE brand. To recall, the latest iPhone SE was launched in 2022. This model used a premium chip, ensuring high performance, but had a retro design reminiscent of the iPhone 8 and a simplified spec sheet to reduce costs. Today, numerous rumors are already circulating about Apple’s next mid-range model: the iPhone SE 4.
For instance, the Twitter account “Majin Bu”, a source frequently cited by the media, has posted photos that are purportedly of cases for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. According to this new leak, the iPhone SE 4 would say goodbye to the home button seen on the iPhone SE 3, in favor of a borderless design. As for the front sensors, including the camera, they would be housed in a notch similar to the iPhone X, on the upper part of the screen. The images shared by Majin Bu also suggest that the iPhone SE 4 should still only have a single photo sensor on the back.
Some sources had suggested that the iPhone SE 4 might skip the notch and go directly to the Dynamic Island feature set. However, according to the new leak, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be closer to the iPhone 14 than to the iPhone 15.
Compared to the 2022 iPhone SE, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be more powerful. Apple is indeed expected to equip this mid-range model with the same chip as its high-end models. Moreover, rumors suggest that the iPhone SE 4 might feature an OLED screen instead of an LCD. This technology provides better image quality and has the advantage of consuming less energy. Lastly, it’s worth noting that today, all of Apple’s devices use the USB-C port instead of Lightning.
Regarding the launch date, various sources mention the possibility of a launch in 2024 or 2025. But, as usual, since this information does not come from an official source, it should be treated with caution. In any case, Apple may need to launch a new iPhone SE so that those who purchased the 2022 iPhone SE can replace it.
