Dell is updating its popular XPS 14 laptop series with advanced AI capabilities while retaining their sleek design. The refreshed lineup now includes 14- and 16-inch models, each equipped with a dedicated button for the Windows Copilot AI feature.
Just before CES 2024, in January 2024, Dell announced the addition of three new models to the XPS series, each boasting AI-driven performance enhancements. The lineup includes the XPS 13, XPS 14, and XPS 16. Before delving into the unique aspects of each model, it’s worth noting the shared features.
Each of these laptops will be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra processor, incorporating an AI acceleration engine and a neural processing unit (NPU). This NPU acts as an additional resource, independent of the processor and graphics card, helping to reduce the laptop’s workload and extend battery life. Moreover, the models come with ExpressCharge technology, enabling a fast recharge from zero to 80% in roughly an hour.

One of the key AI features is Windows Copilot, a comprehensive on-device assistant capable of responding to queries, creating content, and executing commands, among other tasks. This function can be quickly accessed via a special keyboard button.
The differences among the models primarily lie in their design. The XPS 13 is the lightest, weighing just 2.6 pounds, and features a 3K Plus resolution OLED touchscreen. Alternative screen resolutions such as Full HD Plus and Quad HD Plus are also available. This model’s design and approach are reminiscent of the 2023 XPS 13 Plus, with minimal design changes.
The main distinction in the 2024 model of the XPS 13 Plus is the integration of the previously mentioned AI enhancements.
Moving to the XPS 14, it features a larger 14.5-inch display. Unique to this model is the option to include a Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card, beneficial for gaming or video work. It also includes Nvidia Studio, a collection of software tools designed for creative professionals.
The XPS 16 is essentially an upgraded version of the XPS 14, with similar features but on a larger scale. Options include an RTX 4070 GPU and the choice of a 4K Plus OLED screen, making it the model with the best display offering.
These three XPS laptops are set to launch later in the year at starting prices of $1,300, although the exact release date is yet to be confirmed.
