iPhone SE 2020: About the Most Wanted Apple Phone
It has been a year since rumors about a new entry-level Apple iPhone surfaced. Now the iPhone SE 2020 a.k.a. iPhone 9 and iPhone SE 2 has been rolled out. The iPhone SE 2020 is here and you won’t want to miss it.
The first iPhone SE was introduced back in 2016 and copied the iPhone 5 in design, although the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 7, which were already around, looked really cool. The iPhone SE had only two advantages back then: it was much cheaper than the elder models while offering the same technologies. Some people also picked it up for its smaller form-factor. The iPhone SE 2020 is expected to more or less follow the pattern.
The iPhone SE 2020 inherit the iPhone 8 body design. The device will likely have a 4.7-inch display with a “Home” button. (I can hear FaceID haters whooping with delight!) There’s going to be a single back camera. As Apple seeks to decrease expenses, the cameras set for the new entry-level iPhone will be minimal. Some software camera modes will be cut down as well. For example, there will be no Portrait mode (which we seriously doubt). The iPhone SE 2020 will be available in three colors: White, Black and Red. Normally, Apple rolls out red iPhones later but this time they will be available from the start.
Numerous photos show the iPhone SE 2020 as an iPhone 8 but with a glass back panel like the one the iPhone 11 Pro sports. To tell the truth, I doubt that Apple roll out an entry-level phone with a glass panel. They don’t have enough manufacturing lines to make smaller panels in the first place.
Also, iPhone SE 2020 is 0.5 mm thicker than the iPhone 8 – about 7.8 mm thick.
However, the iPhone SE 2020 share the Apple A13 Bionic chip with the iPhones 11. This fact means that this iPhone is able to support new iOS versions for at least four or five years! The memory cut down to 3GB, while the storage have vary from 64GB to 128GB to 256GB. The device support the TouchID, but no FaceID. Some may object that Android mobiles, which feature more or less the processing power, still have the face recognition onboard. The thing is that this system quality is far below Apple security standards. So, if they can’t install the latest FaceID in their entry-level product, they won’t.
The price tag is $399 for the smallest storage in the lineup. It’s a ballpark figure, of course, but the original iPhone SE cost that much when it rolled out. In the same time Apple stop making the iPhone 8 that costs $449 right now to attract the owners of the iPhones 6 and 6s to the new company services.
Considering the current situation in the national economy, the iPhone SE 2020 looks like a wise upgrade for Apple fans who don’t want to pay more for the flagships of the company.
The iPhone SE 2020 indeed got the A13 Bionic chip with the third generation of the Neural Engine. The handset features the 4.7 Retina HD display and the signature design with the TouchID Home button. The display supports True Tone and boasts the P3 color gamut.
There’s only one main 12MP camera as all insiders predicted, but it supports Smart HDR, advanced red-eye correction, auto image stabilization, Panorama mode (up to 63MP), Depth control and advanced bokeh. There are six Portrait Lighting effects: Natural, Studio, Contour, Stage, Stage Mono, High-Key Mono. The single camera can shoot 4K video at 24 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps and supports extended dynamic range up to 30 fps. Optical zoom is up to 3x. If you choose, you can shoot a slo-mo video for 1080p at 120 fps or 240 fps.
The selfie camera has only a 7MP matrix but supports the same Portrait Lighting effects the main camera does as well as Depth control and advanced bokeh. The camera features auto HDR for photos, auto image stabilization and cinematic image stabilization.
To cut the chase, the iPhone SE 2020 is a compact but very powerful camera phone with the old school TouchID. It comes in three colors (again, no surprise here): Black, White and (PRODUCT)RED. The capacity options list 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. The new Apple handset is for now the most affordable iPhone starting with $399 or $299 with trade-in.
