The Podcasts App is an amazing way to play, discover, and subscribe to thousands of free video and audio podcasts. This app has been designed for both iPhone and iPad. It allows you to explore the fascinating world of podcasts simply by clicking on the Featured tab and finding something that interests you. If you browse Top Charts, you discover what’s most popular right now; including a variety of topics such as music, sport, art, business, comedy, and many more items.
With the Podcasts App, you can add your favorite podcasts to personal stations. If they stay up to date, you’ll see when new episodes become available. Just tap Subscribe for your favorites and automatically get new episodes for free as they become available. You can also sync playlists from iTunes. If you create an On-The-Go playlist, you’ll play just the episodes that you have previously saved to your iPhone or iPad. (Streaming or downloading episodes requires Internet access over a Wi-Fi or mobile data connection).
In few words This single app lets you enjoy all of your audio and video podcasts, stream episodes or download to listen while offline. You can skip forward and back using the easy to use playback controls. You can also ask Siri to play specific shows or stations by name. It is also possible to adjust the playback speed of your audio or video podcasts. One of the more useful features available is the possibility to turn on Sleep Timer, in order to automatically stop playing a podcast while listening in bed. You can also enjoy your favorite podcasts on your TV with AirPlay and Apple TV.
Podcasts App is a very simple way to organize and create custom stations of your favorite podcasts. You can choose to download new episodes automatically as soon as they become available, even when the app is not open.
Note that to subscribe to podcasts that require authentication, you should enter the podcast URL into Search in My Podcasts.
You can share your favorite episodes with friends using AirDrop, Facebook, Twitter, Messages and Mail Sync. You can sync episodes and playlists from iTunes on your Mac or PC as well.
iCloud keeps your stations and subscriptions up to date, as well as your play position in sync across all your devices. (Including your Mac, PC and Apple TV).
Podcasts App requires a device with iOS 7 or later. Syncing subscriptions, stations and play position using iCloud requires iTunes 11.2 or later and is the recommended version for syncing podcast episodes. Software 6.0 or later is required for the Apple TV.
Note that iTunes playlist syncing is not compatible with iTunes Match.
