The New iOS 26.3 Features for Your iPhone

OS 26.3 is now available to everyone: here are the new features for your iPhone

Apple has officially released iOS 26.3 for all compatible iPhones, meaning models from iPhone 11 onward. This update arrives almost two months after the first beta and paves the way for the major changes planned for iOS 26.4, such as the long‑awaited overhaul of Siri. Also the update includes new privacy features, better interoperability with Android, and more.

However, iOS 26.3 already brings improvements that affect both functionality and privacy, as well as the device’s interoperability, partly driven by new European regulations.

Data transfer and improved notifications for third‑party devices

One of the most notable new features in iOS 26.3 is the ability to transfer data from an iPhone to an Android device, a function that responds to regulatory requirements from the European Union. By going to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone, users will now find the option “Transfer to Android.”

One of the most notable new features in iOS 26.3 is the ability to transfer data from an iPhone to an Android device.

This allows you to scan a QR code on the new Android device and transfer photos, videos, notes, contacts, calendars, and other selected files, making it easier to switch platforms.

Another relevant improvement is found in the management of notifications on smartwatches and fitness bands from other brands. Until now, the options for forwarding notifications to non‑Apple devices were limited and not very customizable. Starting with iOS 26.3, under Settings > Notifications > Notification Forwarding, you can choose which alerts are mirrored to each connected device, with greater control and reliability.

Advances in compatibility and privacy

The update also extends some features that were previously exclusive to AirPods to other wireless headphones. For example, users can pair third‑party earbuds by bringing the case close to the iPhone, simplifying the connection process.

It also adds the option for automatic device switching: the headphones can switch their connection between the iPhone and a Mac on their own, depending on where content is being played, something that was previously only available with AirPods.

It also adds the option for automatic device switching.

In terms of privacy, iOS 26.3 introduces a new setting that limits how precisely the mobile network can determine the user’s location. Instead of sending an exact location, the carrier will only be able to see a general area.

This change does not affect the accuracy of location used by apps or emergency services, but it adds an extra layer of protection against tracking by carriers. For now, this feature is available only on some iPhone models and with a limited number of carriers.

More secure messaging and small visual changes

The new version of iOS adds end‑to‑end encryption to the RCS (Rich Communication Services) protocol within the Messages app. This improvement, which strengthens the security of conversations, does not require any manual activation by the user; it depends on carriers implementing it. Currently, only four French carriers offer this encryption for iPhone users.

Finally, iOS 26.3 includes a small visual tweak: the native “Weather” and “Astronomy” wallpapers are now organized into separate categories within the Lock Screen customization options. Although this change may go unnoticed, it helps improve organization and navigation when choosing wallpapers.

iOS 26.3 is an update focused on improving interoperability, privacy, and user experience, while we wait for the deeper changes that will arrive with iOS 26.4 and the new generation of Siri. The version is already available for all compatible devices, reinforcing Apple’s commitment to security and adaptation to international regulations.
