Apple's iPhone XS, XS Max, XR Unveiled

September 12 Apple Inc. unveiled the next generation of the iPhone X at the fall event in Steve Job Theatre, Apple Park, Cupertino. As the leaks hinted, there are two models – iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. They are coming in three colors – Space Gray, Silver and Gold.
The new models feature the 5.8-inch and the 6.5-inch Super Retina displays with the HDR content support and – for the first time in history – 512GB of internal storage. They also run the new hexa-core A12 Bionic chip, the pioneer of the 7nm mobile chips line up. The chip is 15% faster, 40% more energy saving and has 50% more effective gaming performance.
Besides, the smartphones feature the enhanced water and dust protection certified as IP68. It allows to submerge the smartphone in water up to 2m deep for several minutes, now the iPhone can survive even salt water, juice and beer baths.

The video sensor is now twice as fast and the four built-in mics can record stereo sound. The portrait depth is now adjustable. Previously, the dual camera featured only two options: a normal picture and a bokeh one (with a blurred background). Now the blur can be adjusted in Settings with a slider.
The iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max will come in Silver, Space Gray and new Gold color with 64GB, 256GB and 512 GB of storage. The prices will start from $999 and $1099 respectively. The new models are available for pre-order since September, 14 and the shipping starts on September 21. As for the stores, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max are likely to hit the market around the mid-October. Obviously, the demand for the smartphones is going to be greater than last year.
And one more smartphone
And one more smartphone — iPhone XR. Are there any differences? Aluminum replaces steel, while the LCD display replaces the OLED one.
During the event in Cupertino Apple Inc. introduced the entry-level iPhone XR along with the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max.

The iPhone XR runs the same Apple A12 Bionic chip the top models boast. Its closest rival Kirin 980 by Huawei is arriving only in October. And as we know the phones by this Chinese maker are frowned upon in the U.S. now. Apple didn’t cut down the chip functionality for the entry-level model. All the specifications are the same: hexa-core CPU plus quad-core GPU and Neural Machine. The chip is 15% faster, 40% more energy saving and has 50% more effective gaming performance.
The iPhone XR shares the 12-megapixel camera with larger pixels as well, but features no dual lense. Yet, the camera can blur the background with just the single module.
The iPhone XR also sports the glass back panel, so it can support the Qi standard wireless charging.

The entry-level iPhone XR also supports the gigabit LTE and two SIM cards, one of them being eSIM. This iteration is manufactured for the Chinese market only.

After unveiling the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR Apple Inc. officially discontinued the cheapest smartphones iPhone SE и iPhone 6S and the last year flagship iPhone X.

Those who don’t need top performance, a new chip and an upgraded camera wouldn’t choose the iPhone XS but would prefer the last year’s iPhone X instead. Apple took the lead here and quickly pulled the plug on their once precious flagship. Thus they hope to boost the baby new iPhone XR sales.
The company ditched the 3.5 adapter as well.

Obviously, Apple decided that the transition is over and stopped shipping the adapter with the iPhone XS. The EarPods with the Lightning socket, the
Lightning/USB cord and the USB power adapter are the only accessories that come from the box. The 3.5 adapter is still available though for an extra cost.
Although the year 2018 is ending soon, Apple sticks to the 5Wt power adapters for its big screen smartphones.
Apple increased the official repair prices as well. The iPhone XS can be fixed for the same price as the iPhone X while the iPhone XS Max will cost a fortune to repair. The faulty or broken display replacement costs $329 while the back panel can be replaced for $599. It makes half the price for the new iPhone XS Max.

The a Series 4 doubled the performance due to the new S4 chip that is twice faster than its predecessor. The Apple Watch feature new accelerometer and gyroscope that are 8 times faster than those in the Series 3. They help the Apple Watch to detect a fall or a slip in real time. If the user falls, the smart watch suggests to call the emergency services.
The watch back panel is made of ceramics now. The Digital Crown has been also redesigned and now features haptic feedback to make the feel more realistic.

The key innovation in the Series 4 is the electrocardiograph functionality. The user can do the electrocardiogram test with the smartwatch on the wrist. The Apple Watch Series 4 now features an upgraded electrical heart sensor for that. By placing your finger on the Digital Crown, you can get the ECG results in 30 seconds. The results are displayed in the app that should be installed on the tethered iOS device.
The smartwatch can also monitor the heart rhythm in the background and send notifications if it’s too fast or too slow. During the event Apple claims that their product is approved by FDA and American cardiologists.
