The long history of Apple displays is marked by many new solutions, such as the introduction of the first color monitors, LCD displays, flat panel displays, portable displays and so on… The first Cinema Display was released in September 1999, and was available in different sizes. The Thunderbolt Display was introduced in July 2011. After many changes and improvements, Apple discontinued the Apple Cinema Display. Today the Thunderbolt Display is the only Apple display marketed directly by the company.

Apple Cinema Display (20-Inch)

The Apple Cinema Display ADC (20-inch) is an active-matrix, LCD matte display with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels. It is enclosed in a high-density, crystal-clear polycarbonate frame and mounted on an easel-style stand. It comes with an integrated, two port USB hub as well as an ADC (Apple Display Connector) for analog and digital video input\output, USB data transferring and power supply. (more…)

History of Apple (2003)

In January 2003, the recovery began, as Apple released iLife, a bundled package that included iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie and iDVD. It also announced two new PowerBook G4 models, a 12″ model similar to existing 12″ iBooks, and a wide-screen 17″ model. The company also announced Safari, its own Web Browser. The new PowerBooks sold well. The sales of flat panel iMacs remained steady. The iPod was beginning to take off. In April of 2003, the iTunes Music Store opened, which would sell individual songs through the iTunes application, for 99 cents each. When announced, the iTunes Music Store had the backing of the five major record labels, and a catalog of more than 200,000 songs. In October, Apple released iTunes for Windows. (more…)

iMac G4/1.25 20-Inch FP (USB 2.0)

The iMac G4/1.25 20-inch “FP” has its hardware housed in a hemisphere about 10 inches high, while the 20” flat panel TFT monitor tops it on an adjustable steel arm. Due to the largest screen in the line-up the base hemisphere is made a bit heavier to counterbalance it. The iMac 4G “FP” with 20” monitor shares the hardware with the iMac G4/1.25 15” features a 1680 x 1050 TFT display, a 1.25 GHz PowerPC 7445 (G4) processor with the AltiVec “Velocity Engine” vector processing unit, 256 MB of RAM (PC133 SDRAM), an 80.0 GB Ultra ATA/66 hard drive (7200 RPM), a tray-loading 4X “SuperDrive”, and NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra graphics with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM (AGP 4X support). The fanless cooling is replaced with an internal fan. The internal speakers are swapped for the external optional ones. The model was available with Apple Keyboard and Apple Mouse. (more…)

iMac G4/1.25 17-Inches FP (USB 2.0)

The iMac G4/1.25 17 inches “FP” has its hardware housed in a hemisphere about 10 inches high, while the 17 inches flat panel TFT monitor tops it on an adjustable steel arm. The iMac G4 “FP” with 17” monitor is the first iMac with a processor that fast and GeForce 5200 graphics. But it is the screen that makes this iMac to stand out. It is a wide aspect ratio “cinema” type screen and displays 1440 x 900 pixels – a top choice for DVDs. iMac 4G/1.0 15 Inches FP (USB 2.0)

The iMac 4G/1.0 15 inches “FP” has its hardware housed in a hemisphere about 10 inches high, while the 15 inches flat panel TFT monitor tops it on an adjustable steel arm. The iMac 4G “FP” with 15th monitor shares the processor and the hard disk drive capacity with the previous revisions. Yet, the video SDRAM was reduced. The 32x “Combo” drive makes up for that disadvantage, especially when compared with the previous model 4x drive. As to the ports and wireless connectivity, the iMac 4G/1.0 15-Inch “FP” got a USB 2.0 and the internal Bluetooth support but the latter is optional. iPod Classic 3rd Generation (2003) – Full information

Compared to the earlier models, the iPod classic Third Generation was completely redesigned. It had a lighter, slimmer and more rounded case. The improvements also include a dock connector for connection to a computer (replacing the Fire Wire port) and audio out for connection to speakers. The four buttons are now backlit and they are located in a row above the touch wheel (the previous models had buttons placed around the wheel). Among software improvements we can mention games, alarm clock, possibility to record voice and updated customization options. On the other hand, battery life has estimated eight hours, two hours less than the iPod classic 1st and the iPod classic 2nd generations. (more…)
