iPhone X Specifications.

September 12, 2017 at 2:42 pm ET: The iPhone X camera seems to be same as iPhone 8, except for addition of optical stabilization on 2x camera, like the Galaxy Note 8.

One of the reasons to get the iPhone X is its selfie camera.

September 12, 2017 at 2:33 pm ET: Phone X’s Animoji for iMessage – pick one of 12 emojis and map your facial expressions to it.

The animated emoji is cool.

September 12, 2017 at 2:30 pm ET: FaceID: One in a million, but a lower chance if you have an “evil twin”. The FaceID system requires your attention to unlock, you can’t have your eyes closed or be looking away. Phil Schiller says FaceID won’t work with a photo or a mask. As you would expect, all the processing is done on the phone on a secure chip. No data is sent to Apple.

In the dark the device sends out a little flashlight to light up your face, along with IR “dots.” Apple says they’ve trained FaceID to not be fooled by masks. No person can unlock the iPhone X with their face.

September 12, 2017 at 2:26 pm ET: iPhone X has no Home button. Just open the phone or go “home” by swiping up. You can also press a side button for Siri – side button for Siri.

The Touch ID fingerprint reader had a 1 in 50,000 chance of being spoofed, Schiller said.

September 12, 2017 at 2:21 pm ET: The iPhone X (or iPhone 10). It is all glass on the front. And yes, you say it “iPhone Ten”. The so-called super retina screen is 5.8 inches, and uses OLED tech. The iPhone X has 2436 x 1125 resolution, 458 ppi screen. It’s the highest ever pixel density in an iPhone.

With the iPhone X, pronounced “Ten”, you swipe up from the bottom to get to the home screen. If you stop in the middle of the screen you can get to app switcher.

September 12, 2017 at 2:17 pm ET: The iPhone 8 price starts at $699, the iPhone 8 Plus at $799.

Both iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be marketed in 64 and 256 GB.

September 12, 2017 at 2:15 pm ET: The iPhone has wireless charging, using the Qi standard. That’s why the back of the iPhone 8 is glass. Wireless charging is something many Android phones have offered for years.

Breaking News: the new iPhone 8 does not have a headphone port.

September 12, 2017 at 2:11 pm ET: Apple’ Augmented reality – the company showed apps where data can be superimposed over the night sky, and even baseball players standing on a field. Some special tuning of the lenses, sensors and processors to make it more smooth, they say. New cameras are calibrated for AR and new gyroscopes and sensors.

September 12, 2017 at 2:06 pm ET: New photo feature installed on the 8 Plus: Portrait Lighting adds more light to your subject’s face.

Example of “portrait lighting” on the iPhone 8 Plus. Uses machine learning to ID and brighten key parts of the face. iPhone 8 camera has a new sensor that captures a lot more light, says Schiller. Can’t wait to put this to the test.

September 12, 2017 at 2:01 pm ET: iPhone 8 highlights: new glass design, faster graphics and processor, new stereo speakers, a home button, fingerprint sensor. iPhone 8 has a very fast new processor, 25% than the last generation.

Phil Schiller presents the iPhone 8. Still only a single camera on the iPhone 8. iPhone 8 Plus has the dual system.
