iMac G4/800 X-Only (Flat Panel, 2003)

The iMac G4/800 has its hardware housed in a hemisphere about 10 inches high, while the 15” flat panel TFT monitor tops it on an adjustable steel arm. The iMac G4/800 features a 800 MHz PowerPC 7445 (G4) processor with the AltiVec “Velocity Engine” vector processing unit, 256 MB of RAM (PC133 SDRAM), a 60.0 GB Ultra ATA/66 hard drive (7200 RPM), a tray-loading 32X “Combo” drive, and NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM (AGP 2X support). The fanless cooling is replaced with an internal fan. The internal speakers are swapped for the external optional ones. The model was available with Apple Keyboard and Apple Mouse. The pre-installed OS is MacOS X 10.2 “Jaguar”, the MacOS 9.2 boot is cut off. (more…)

The iMac G3/600 SE released in early 2001 has only 128 MB of RAM but shares the hard disk 40 GB and the fastest processor of 7xx family – 600 Hz – with the iMac G3/600. While in color it’s more like the iMac G3/500 (early 2001). iMac G3/500 (Early 2001 – Flower/Blue)

The iMac G3/500 released early in 2001 stands apart from the previous G3 iterations. Not only the processor speed was increased, but also the cache memory and the VRAM. The hard drive and RAM capacity weren’t increased significantly, but the CD drive was now a writing one. So, the iMac G3/500 features a 500 MHz PowerPC 750cx (G3) processor with a 256k on-chip level 2 cache, 64 MB of RAM, a 20.0 GB Ultra ATA hard drive, a slot loading 8X/4X/24X CD-RW drive, ATI Rage 128 Ultra (AGP 2X) graphics with 16 MB of VRAM and Firewire “400” ports not to mention the in-built speakers, a 15-inch CRT display and AirPort support. iMac G3 Slot-Loading DV+ 450 Hz 2000

The iMac G3 Slot-Loading DV+ 450 Hz, just another member of the “Summer Series”, doubled the hard disk storage capacity to 20 GB and switched back to 4X DVD-ROM. It has got a 450 Hz processor, a VGA-port, a larger 20 GB hard drive, an ATI Rage 128 Pro video card, two FireWire 400 ports and the fanless cooling system. This model is available not only in Ruby and Indigo, but also in Sage color. In every other detail it is similar to the iMac G3/400 DV (Summer 2000 – Indigo/Ruby) (more…)

iMac G3 Slot-Loading DV 400 Hz 2001

The iMac Slot-Loading G3 DV 400 Hz released in February 2001 was just a reincarnation of iMac G3 DV 400 Hz 2000 in Indigo and Ruby. It has got a 400 Hz processor, a VGA-port, a larger 10 GB hard drive, and two FireWire 400 ports. A DVD-ROM was replaced by a CD-ROM and the price was $100 lower than that of the previous model. The preinstalled OS is also younger. It is available only in one color – Indigo. This iMac also sports the fanless cooling system that makes its operation almost silent. The iMac (500MHz G3, Summer 2001) in Indigo and Snow was released in summer of 2001 with almost the same technical specifications as the iMac G3/500 at the beginning of the year. iMac G3 Slot-Loading DV SE 400 Hz Revision B 1999

The iMac G3 DV SE is identical to the iMac G3 DV in everything but hard drive storage capacity and RAM. It got a larger 13 GB drive and larger 128 MB RAM from the box. With emphasis on home video editing, the iMac G3 DV SE has got a more powerful 400 Hz processor, a VGA-port, a DVD-ROM slot loading drive and two FireWire 400 ports. The in iMac G3 DV supports an optional AirPort but in all the other aspects its hardware is identical to the Revision A. For example, not only system bus and hard drive ATA standard remained the same, but also a video processor, so in video editing a user should rely on the central processor performance only. iMac G3 Slot-Loading 350 Hz Indigo 2000

The iMac G3 Slot-Loading 350 Hz Indigo was introduced in summer o 2000 year with slightly larger 7 GB hard drive and better video processor. The body color had been changed from Blueberry to Indigo. The desktop had also lost the AirPort internal support and the puck-round mouse. This was replace by the Apple Pro Mouse. iMac (350MHz G3, Slot-Loading) – Full information

The iMac (350MHz G3, Slot-Loading) is based upon the iMac G3 D revision and got, obviously, a slot-loading optical drive, a faster processor, ATI Rage 128 VR graphics, doubled RAM, an AirPort wireless network card supporting 802.11b radio frequency. iMac G3 Original

The iMac G3 or Original iMac was the first all-in-one legacy-free desktop computer by Apple. With its’ Bondi Blue plastic body the iMac G3 had a futuristic captivating look, but it’s innards are more interesting. It was the first personal computer lacking the floppy drive and all the legacy ports but USB. Even the keyboard and the mouse had an USB not a PS/2 connector. The iMac G3 had an inbuilt 15-inches 16-bit monitor with resolution of 1024 x 768, 56 kbps modem, in-built speakers. The headphones dual jacks were on the front of the machine while the peripheral ports were hidden on the right side of the computer behind the little door. The iMac G3 was originally available in one color: Bondi Blue. Later it was available in thirteen colors or flavors: Bondi Blue, Strawberry, Blueberry, Lime, Grape, Tangerine, Graphite, Ruby, Snow, Indigo, Sage, Blue Dalmatian, Flower Power. (more…)
