Mac Mini Core i5 / 1.4 (Late 2014)

The Mac mini Core i5 / 1.4 (late 2014) is the Intel Mac mini in a cuboid sealed aluminum casing with an internal power unit, two Thunderbolt ports, and no internal optical drive and FireWire support. The line-up of late 2012 got the faster though with a lesser clock speed Intel Haswell processor and much faster Wi-Fi. The Mac mini Core i5 / 1.4 (late 2014) features a mid-class dual-core 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 (4260U) processor, 4 or 8 GB of RAM (PC2-10600), a 500 GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive (5400 RPM) and Intel HD Graphics 5000 graphics with 1.5 GB of integrated memory. The net top has an HDMI video out and two Thunderbolt ports, four USB 3.0 ports, a built-in mono-speaker, an audio-out mini-jack and an audio line-in/digital audio input. As for the wireless, the Mac mini Core i5 / 1.4 (late 2014) has standard AirPort Extreme (802.11a/ac/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0. The cooling system is fanless. The Mac mini Core i5 / 2.8 (late 2014) is the Intel Mac mini in a cuboid sealed aluminum casing with an internal power unit, two Thunderbolt ports, and no internal optical drive and FireWire support. The line-up of late 2012 got the faster Intel Haswell processor and much faster Wi-Fi. This model is remarkable for a Fusion Drive as a standard. The Mac mini Core i5 / 2.8 (late 2014) features a mid-class dual-core 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 (4308U) processor, 8 or 16GB of RAM (PC2-10600), upgradable at a time of purchase only, a 1 TB “Fusion Drive” (a 1 TB hard drive complemented with a 128 GB SSD) and Intel Iris 5100 graphics with 1.5 GB of integrated memory. iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 3.5GHz Intel Core i5, Late 2014)

The iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 3.5GHz Intel Core i5, Late 2014) introduced in October, 2014, has major improvements in display and storage. The quad core processor is again Intel Core-i5 Ivy Bridge with Haswell microarchitecture. The design is similar to the iMacs of 2012. This is the all-in-one desktop computer in an ultra-thin (5 mm depth at the edges) all-aluminum unibody casing behind the 27-inch LED-backlit IPS widescreen Retina 5K display with the higher pixels’ density of 300 PPI. There’s a bulge though in the center of the back panel to house all the hardware. The computer is mounted on an aluminum stand with a slightly tapered foot and an adjusting hinge. (more…)

The iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 4.0GHz Intel Core i7, Late 2014) is the built-to-order iteration of the iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 3.5GHz Intel Core i5, Late 2014) but with the top-class quad core processor Intel Core-i7 4790K with Haswell microarchitecture. The design is similar to the iMacs of 2012. This is the all-in-one desktop computer in an ultra-thin (5 mm depth at the edges) all-aluminum unibody casing behind the 27-inch LED-backlit IPS widescreen Retina 5K display with the higher pixels’ density of 300 PPI. There’s a bulge though in the center of the back panel to house all the hardware. The computer is mounted on an aluminum stand with a slightly tapered foot and an adjusting hinge. The iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 4.0GHz Intel Core i7, Late 2014) features a quad core 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5 I5-4690 processor (Haswell), with four independent processor cores on a single chip, DMI system bus and an integrated graphics core, 8 GB of RAM, a 1TB Fusion Drive (128 GB SSD plus 1 TB HDD), an SD memory slot card reader, an AMD Radeon R9 M290X graphics with 2 GB of shared memory, a built-in FaceTime HD webcam and stereo speakers, as well as two “Thunderbolt-2” ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports. It also has built-in AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and Bluetooth 4.0. The cooling system is CPU controlled and the in-built speakers are mounted beneath the 27” screen for the clearer less distorted sound to bounce off the desk or other surface. The speakers’ grills also work as the vent ones. The iMac (27-inch Retina 5K, 4.0GHz Intel Core i7, Late 2014) is shipped with a compact aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard and either with a “Magic Mouse” or a traditional wired Apple Mouse or a multi-touch Magic Trackpad. The iMac Core i5 / 1.4 got just the dual core processor – Intel Core-i5 Ivy Bridge with Haswell microarchitecture. This low-cost entry-level iMac is to close the late 2013 line-up, though it was released in mid of 2014. The design is similar to the iMacs of late 2013. This is the all-in-one desktop computer in an ultra-thin (5 mm depth at the edges) all-aluminum unibody casing behind the 21.5-inch LED-backlit IPS screen with cover glass fully laminated to the LCD and anti-reflective coating. There’s a bulge though in the center of the back panel to house all the hardware. The computer is mounted on an aluminum stand with a slightly tapered foot and an adjusting hinge. iPad Air 2 – Full tablet information
