Old Versions of Windows

As we have written earlier, in April 2017, Microsoft ended its support for Vista, which means the decade-old OS will be cut off from the security updates. Microsoft obviously expects the consumers to get rid of their old devices, but with private users and even small businesses it can be the other way about. Old versions of Windows just stick around. Windows Vista – the End

Windows Vista is Gone. On April 11, 2017, Microsoft announced the official date of death of Windows Vista. From now on its customers will no longer receive new security updates, other hotfixes, patches, or online technical content updates from Microsoft. Ten years of shame are over. As Microsoft politely put it, “…the time has come for us, along with our hardware and software partners, to invest our resources towards more recent technologies so that we can continue to deliver great new experiences”. CLETS and Microsoft

CLETS provides law enforcement and criminal justice agencies access to FBI and state Criminal Justice Information, along with the ability to communicate messages to other agencies. As the interface to criminal justice information systems, CLETS approval is required for access to critical, life-saving public safety information. Announces that within its strategy of implementating Microsoft philanthropies policy it has renewed its Affordable Access Initiative grant fund for a second year. Microsoft offers grants to assist companies working to bring internet access and new technologies, services and models to underserved markets. Microsoft Surface Dial – Full Information

Surface Dial is the new mouse-like manipulator, developed and manufactured by Microsoft. It’s a puck-shaped spin-and-click gadget in magnesium casing with rubber sole to give the dial the better grip onto the glass display. Surface Dial runs on two non-rechargeable AAA batteries from the box. It connects to the system via Bluetooth 4.0 LE and is compatible with Surface Studio only. Surface Dial is manipulated by spinning and clicking. It has a haptic vibration motor for better feedback. When on the table Surface Dial works like a mouse, but being put on the display it works like a dial, triggering the context programmable menu. Surface Dial can control volume, zoom in and out, scroll the colors gamut and navigate the screen. Surface Dial supports the following applications: Plumbago, Word, Excel, One Note, Office 365, Windows Maps, Groove Music, Autodesk AutoCAD, Sketchable. (more…)

New All-In-One PC: Windows fans and haters have to circle the 26th of October in their calendars. As this is the date of annual event Microsoft presents new products, rumors have it, we’re going to meet the new OEM all-in-one PC under Windows 10 with Surface keyboard and mouse. Exactly how gossip mills derived that escapes me, but taking into account the lifelong competition between Microsoft and Apple, Myerson is a tad late, don’t you think? Surface Remix Project Cover

Surface Remix Project Cover or ‘blade’ is an accessory for Windows Surface 2 and Windows Surface Pro 2 hybrid tablets. The keyboard is pressure sensitive with soft touch keys and a magnetic docking connection to attach it to the tablet. The outer side of the cover is soft and shaggy. There’s no QWERTY keyboard, just DJ tools such as equalizer, instrumental numeric buttons, sound control buttons and a menu button. The DJ keyboard demands a Music Kit soft to run with.

Is Surface Phone to Continue Surface Line-Up?

With Snapdragon 830, 2k display and 20 MP rear camera to feature the coming Surface phone, it’s obvious Microsoft bets on productivity. Snapdragon 830 is rumored to be the Qualcomm next generation processor with 10 nm manufacturing process, a quad core Kryo CPU, clocked at 2.2GHz and LDDDR4X RAM.
